The Heron is a wading bird native throughout temperate Europe, Asia, and also parts of Africa. It’s lazy in flight with its long neck retracted in a distinguished s-shaped fashion. This species breeds in colonies within trees, close to lakes, the sea-shore or other wetlands, although it will also nest in reed beds. It builds large, bulky stick nests. This bird is most seen in the motionless stance, along shorelines, waiting patiently for a quick bite.
