The buffalo, first recorded for the American mammal in 1635, is older than bison which was first recorded in 1774. It’s recognized as a very powerful creature, demanding respect from even a pride of lions when paths cross. This odd reaction is somewhat owed to the naturally unpredictable nature of the buffalo.
